What support do you need from your travel advisor?

Whether you are neurodivergent or neurotypical, you will have your own areas of strength and areas where you might need or want support in your travels.
Maybe you haven't thought about it in this way before.
Do you find yourself avoiding areas without robust public transportation systems because you don't drive? Do you avoid cities with many public transportation options because it is confusing? Do you avoid smaller ancient cities in Europe because they have cobblestone streets?
These are the types of details you should be prepared to discuss with your travel advisor. You know yourself better than anyone else. Like any other relationship, you should be open and honest with your travel advisor and not expect them to read your mind.
Here are a few ideas to get you started.
1. Take some time to contemplate what you enjoy and dislike about travel.
2. Make a list of the most important things to you so that when you have that discussion you don't forget.
3. Some things to add to your list might be:
a. Any food allergies you might have.
b. Any medical issues you might have that could require assistance at airports or require specialized equipment or medication. This can include mobility issues.
c. Any sensory issues you might be experiencing so that possible solutions can be researched or discussed.
d. Any people you are traveling with and any special requirements they might have.
4. Come equipped with specific travel dates.
5. Be honest about your budget and how much you are willing to spend for specific segments of your trip.
6. Bring an open mind.
