Time to get your passport!

There is no better time than the present to obtain or renew your passport.
I am based in the U.S. I know not all of you who get this email are. In the U.S. our passports are good for 10 years. I still have another year before I need to worry about renewing mine. I highly recommend that if you have a passport you check it now to see whether you should consider renewing now. Some countries do not allow you in unless your passport is good for six months from the date of your return. That is not the case for Canada, but it is always best to check the State Department's website where you can find the latest travel advisories.
For those renewing, you can now renew your passport online! This is exciting news. You won't be able to travel until you receive your new passport, and you must meet all of the requirements to be able to renew online. I personally was always worried when sending my original passport through the mail. Now, you may not have to.
If you don't yet have a passport, what are you waiting for? It is better to have a passport before you need it than to have to pay hundreds of dollars to expedite it or drive hours to a passport facility and lose a lot of time. When you have it, you can then focus on wherever you want to travel without that concern. You may still need a visa, depending on where you are traveling.
