Cultural Sustainability--Japan

One of the most often overlooked aspects of sustainable travel is keeping the local culture alive.

I have visited Japan, however, I have not been to Shizuoka.  As a travel advisor, I receive so much travel information that it is often difficult to choose what if anything to read.  As I'm writing this, I decided to take a look at the Explore Shizuoka website to see what type of cultural experiences are available for you should you choose to have me help you plan a trip to Japan.  Shizuoka is a region of Japan.

I have to say I was intrigued and excited to find a class on Matcha Calligraphy.  For those of you who don't know, matcha is a type of powdery green tea that is used in tea ceremony and can even be purchased in my local supermarket in Vermont.  It sounds like you can dip the brush in matcha and paint with it.

Some other options are visiting wasabi fields and making tofu.  You can also take a day trip to Mt. Fuji.  Take a hybrid bike tour to a green tea farm.  Or engage in a Mt. Fuji Nature e-bike Ecotour.  There are even UNESCO Global Geoparks in the region.  The possibilities are endless.

If you are ready to explore a sustainable Japanese vacation, fill out this intake form and we can discuss working together.
