Many reasons people choose vacation destinations are based on FOMO.  They fear they will miss out on some place their friends went to that they saw on Instagram.  Or maybe they "heard" from "someone" that a specific destination is a "must visit" or is on their "bucket list."

I am here to tell you that none of it is real.  A majority of the time, photos and videos are so edited that you would not even recognize the location if you were there.  Or they edit out the two hundred people around them because it's not the vibe to admit that you aren't alone and don't have the whole island or wherever to yourself.

You have unreasonable expectations due to the fantasy you saw on social media, and as a result you end up being underwhelmed, trash talking the destination and/or different travel providers who are only doing their best to make your trip as enjoyable as possible.

Are you ready for a new way to experience travel?  Travel to nearby "unpopular" destinations.  They are not unpopular because they are not enjoyable.  They are unpopular because people are fixated on going to the same five cities.

The possibilities are truly endless.  You can stay in a nearby town and visit the popular cities for a day trip and go back to your peaceful, less-frantic and overtouristed accommodations.  You can eat a local meal in a restaurant that was not created for tourists and have a more authentic experience.

There really are unlimited options to discuss.  And going with the nearby "unpopular" destination is the sustainable choice.  It puts less stress and strain on the infrastructure of the bigger cities while not overhwleming the smaller towns.  It's win-win for everyone.
